Georgia legislative leaders unveiled a tax reform plan Thursday that would accomplish some of the overhaul of state tax laws recommended by an advisory council but shelve other changes for this year.
A joint House-Senate committee is working on a bill that would reduce Georgia’s personal income tax rate from 6 percent to no more than 4.5 percent. To make up for that lost revenue, the legislation would expand the state sales tax to some services and, for the first time, to person-to-person auto sales.
