Georgia House Oks Tax Hike

The city of Atlanta would be authorized to raise its hotel-motel tax under legislation that cleared the Georgia House of Representatives on Wednesday night.
The bill, which passed 147-24 and now goes to the Senate, would allow the city to increase its tax on tourists from 7 percent to 8 percent.
