Dr. Aercio Cunha, Fulbright Visiting Professor at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), will present “The Brazilian Economy After the Great Recession” on Wednesday, April 6, as part of the Darton College Distinguished Lecture Series.

Dr. Cunha will speak at 11 a.m. in the Darton Theatre.  He will share his insight into Brazil’s economy, its “history of lost opportunities” and draw parallels to the current American economy. This event is free and open to the public.

A former associate professor of economics at The University of Brasilia, Brazil, Cunha was a senior specialist, Office Legislative Counsel, Brazilian Chamber of the Deputies, Brasilia, before joining ABAC as a Fulbright Visiting Professor.

Professor Cunha received his bachelor of economics degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte and his master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.  In addition, he was a Fulbright Research Scholar at Cornell University in New York (1988-89).  Before coming to the U. S. the first time, he completed (non degree) graduate studies at the University of Sao Paulo. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in many areas of economics.
