Public Hearing Held on Community Development

In a public hearing meant to solicit residents’ ideas about community development priorities, fighting crime seemed to head the list.

“From 300 surveys we found that unsafe neighborhoods were priority number one,” said Latoya Cutts, director of Albany’s Department of Community and Economic Development.

Cutts’ statement drew nods of approval from the about 12 residents attending a public hearing on the 2011-2016 Consolidated Plan that Cutts’ department is formulating. The hearing was part of Albany Commissioner Jon Howard’s monthly Town Hall meeting 10 a.m. Saturday.
