Georgia Foreclosures up 13% in January

Georgia ranked seventh in the nation for foreclosures in January, according to RealtyTrac.

The state ranked sixth in the nation for all of last year and generally has been ranked between fifth and 10th every month for the past few years. RealtyTrac defines a foreclosure as default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions.

RealtyTrac said Georgia had 12,772 foreclosures in January, up 13.3 percent from January 2010 and up 15.7 percent from December 2010.
