Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

The number of U.S. companies that will observe Martin Luther King Day this year is up slightly from last year, according to a survey by BNA.

It said 30 percent of companies will give all or most workers a paid holiday for MLK Day, Jan. 17. That's up from 28 percent in 2010, and slightly lower than the 31 percent who observed the holiday in 2009.

While the number of employers observing the holiday over the last five years has remained little changed, it is up significantly from when the holiday was first introduced.
