Woman Fights Georgia Power Rate Hike with YouTube Video

If approved by state utility regulators,

Georgia Power’s proposed rate hike would add another $15 to a family’s typical monthly bill.

The rate increase is one of the largest in the utility’s history -- and for one Murray County woman, it’s too much.

Pamela Crouse, 63, confines herself to one room in her three-bedroom home and uses a kerosene heater during the winter to save money on her electric utility bill. She spends $8 on kerosene to fill the heater and says if she is careful, that amount will last her for four days.
