Press release from the issuing company
Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010
The Albany Area Employer Committee and the Georgia Department of Labor’s Albany Career Center will co-sponsor a seminar on unemployment insurance (UI) for businesses in the area. Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and Georgia Department of Labor career centers.
Entitled, “Your Questions About Unemployment Insurance Answered! What Every Employer Needs to Know,” the seminar is especially designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors and entrepreneurs. It will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Albany Career Center, located at 1608 South Slappey Blvd. in Albany.
Cherry Rizer of Albany, an employment and training consultant with the Georgia Department of Labor, will lead the seminar. She will answer some of the questions that employers frequently ask about the state’s UI program. Those questions include: what happens when a claim is filed, what claims examiners look for when employees quit or are discharged, how the appeals process works, and how employer tax rates are set.
For more information about the seminar, or to register, contact Lynne Jones, Robin Chester, or Wanda Causey of the Albany Career Center at (229) 430-5010. A registration deadline of Friday, Nov. 12, has been set.
