Dawson Rotary Club Inducts ASU Administrator

On Oct. 27 Albany State University vice president for fiscal affairs, Mr. Larry Wakefield was added to the rolls of the Dawson, Ga. Rotary Club. Wakefield joined Lavonne Williams-Pollard as newly inducted members in the Dawson Club of Rotary International.

As a Rotary Club member, Wakefield will join an organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace throughout the world.

Wakefield, who joined ASU in 2006, leads all business areas at the university including: Fiscal Operations, Budget & Contracts, Human Resources, Facilities Management, Financial Aid,  Business Services, and Auxiliary Enterprises. He holds a B.S.B.A. degree, with honors from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and a M.B.A. degree from Austin Peay State University.

There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio.
