Friday, October 15th, 2010

Local leaders have set up a series of public meetings this month to provide information on the upcoming special local option sales tax referendum.

On Nov. 2, Dougherty County voters will decide whether to support a renewal of the one-percent sales tax or vote the measure down.

In an effort to inform voters as to what is on the project list of projects to be funded by the estimated $98 million that could be collected over the next six years, area elected officials have set up a series of informational meetings.

The first will take place tonight at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church at 1010 Old Pretoria Road. The program, which will start at 6 p.m., is being sponsored by Dougherty County Commissioners Gloria Gaines and John Hayes, and will feature comments from city and county staff.
