iPhone to Verizon Rumor Heats up Again

The rumor about plans by Apple, Inc. to put its iPhone on the network of a second wireless provider heated up Wednesday when a major business publication reported that Verizon would join AT&T as a seller of the wildly popular device.

The Wall Street Journal, using anonymous attribution, reported on its website that Apple will make a new iPhone for Verizon Wireless by year's end.

Verizon would begin selling the smart phone in early 2011, the report said, attributing the information to "people briefed by Apple."
