Mortgage Rates Continue to Fall

Long-term mortgage rates fell again this week, with both 30 and 15-year mortgages remaining at the lowest levels since Freddie Mac began keeping track.

A 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 4.32 percent in the week ending Sept. 2, down from 4.36 percent last week. A year ago, 30-year mortgages averaged 5.08 percent, according to Freddie Mac, which has a regional office in Atlanta.

The average rate on a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage fell to 3.83 percent, down from 3.86. A one-year adjustable-rate mortgage averaged 3.50 percent, down from 3.52 percent.
