Georgia 30th for Property Tax Burden

The average Georgia homeowner pays less in property taxes than the national average, according to an analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data conducted by the Tax Foundation.
The Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group ranked Georgia 30th in the nation for its tax burden relative to home value. The median property tax payment in the state last year was $830 for every $100,000 in home value, compared with $1,040 nationwide.
Ranked by property tax payments regardless of home value, Georgia is further down the list. The median annual property tax payment in the Peach State last year was $1,346, 33rd in the nation and below the national average of $1,917.
