At 28 and the holder of a master's degree, Davica Williams might be considered the perfect candidate to be in the market for her first home.
“I do want to own a home at some point," she said, "but I’ve got to get my job situation secure first.”
Many young metro Atlantans, and Americans, are in the same situation. Despite historically low mortgage rates and fallen home prices, they're reluctant to jump into home ownership at a time when jobs are scarce and their ability to re-sell a property if they decide to move remains uncertain.
“It is a buyers market now but I need it to be a sellers market because I’m thinking about the future,” Williams said. “I need to know I can sell whatever I buy if I want to or need to. Right now that’s not happening.”
