Albany Technical College continues to exceed the expectations set by the Technical System of Georgia, growing in enrollment and placing almost every graduate in a job.  In the state of the college address Tuesday, Albany Tech President Anthony Parker touted the colleges success in the past year and also discussed challenges for moving ahead.

For the past five quarters, Albany Tech has had record enrollment.  98% of graduates have gotten full time jobs.  But there are still areas for improvement.  Six out of seven counties the college serves have graduation rates and literacy rates that are below both state and national averages, placing an increased need for adult education and programming.

Dr. Parker said, "We need to develop a business plan that will allow us to address that so that we can help this region recruit industry.  We think we've got great people that live here, but we certainly want to put them in a position to compete for these jobs."
