Georgia 28th for Home Closing Costs

The Peach State was about average for total home closing costs in 2010, according to a survey Monday from Bankrate.com.
Georgia’s mortgage origination costs averaged $1,402 and title/closing costs averaged $2,201 for a total of $3,604 in fees. This is based on a good faith estimate for a $200,000 loan, assuming a 20 percent down payment and good credit. Bankrate’s survey includes lenders’ origination fees and title and settlement fees, and not taxes or prepaid items.
