The Albany Area Employer Committee and the Georgia Department of Labor’s Albany Career Center will co-sponsor a seminar on the U.S. Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for businesses in the area. FLSA, which sets the standards for minimum wage and overtime pay, affects most private and public employment.

The seminar will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Kirkland Conference Center on the campus of Albany Technical College, located at 1704 South Slappey Blvd. in Albany.

Entitled, “To Enlighten, Encourage, and Empower Employers to Meet and Maintain Compliance,” the seminar is especially designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors and entrepreneurs. Warren Williams, an investigator with the USDOL’s Wage and Hour Division, will lead the seminar.

Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and Georgia Department of Labor Career Centers.

For more information about the seminar, or to register, contact Lynne Jones, Robin Chester, or Wanda Causey at the Albany Career Center at (229) 430-5010.
