Commission Rolls Back Millage

Albany city commissioners are giving property owners a slight tax break. The city commission voted Tuesday morning to lower the millage rate by nearly half a point.
For the average homeowner, it's not a major saving, only about $20 a year on a $100,000 home. Last year, after the homeowners tax relief grant was taken away by the legislature, the commission decided it would lower the millage rate by the equivalent of $800,000, and they kept their word.
