MCLB prepares for Independence Day Celebration

The base will demonstrate support of our local community as we host the 16th annual Independence Day Celebration here Friday, July 2, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Highlights that evening are scheduled to be a military working dog demonstration, performances by the Albany Marine Band and a special guest appearance by Miss Georgia 2010. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand, as well as entertainment for everyone, including children and adults. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
Last year more than 11,000 people attended the event which is scheduled to open to the general public at 4 p.m. The fireworks are scheduled to begin just after sunset and the event will conclude around 10 p.m.
There will be public parking outside the main gate. The public is asked not to bring alcohol, coolers, pets, weapons, knives or wear inappropriate clothing. Bags will be subject to inspection. The public is welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
