County Commissioners have good news for employees

County Commissioners were supposed to pay Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital $1.46 million dollars for jail health care, but since they negotiated it down to $700,000, they’re applying the savings directly to county employees.

Instead of the originally planned 12 unpaid work days, employees will not only have to take five unpaid workdays which equates to a 2% pay cut.  Commissioner Jeff Sinyard says it still hurts, however it’s better than the planned 4.6% pay cut.  “We’re glad that we haven’t had to fire any employees.  We’re very glad that we’ve been able to keep our employees working, but it’s very sad that folks have to take pay cuts in these tough times” says Sinyard.
