Perdue signs a $17.1 billion amended 2010 budget

Gov. Sonny Perdue signed a $17.1 billion amended 2010 budget Thursday that will cover state spending through the end of the fiscal year on June 30.

House and Senate budget writers, working with the governor, cut the amended budget $1.5 billion below the original 2010 spending plan adopted by the General Assembly just more than a year ago, reflecting an erosion of state tax revenues resulting from the severe recession.
