Georgia Senate OKs downsized 2011 Budget

The General Assembly Thursday adopted a $17.9 billion state budget that both cuts spending and brings in new revenue to help offset the recession’s impact on tax collections.

On the final day of the 2010 session, the Senate voted 47-2 Thursday afternoon to approve the budget compromise reached by a conference committee of legislative leaders. The House followed suit more than two hours later, voting 137-33 to send the spending plan to Gov. Sonny Perdue. (read more at Atlanta Business Chronicle)
