Georgia Senate approves tight 2011 budget

The Georgia Senate Wednesday adopted a fiscal 2011 state budget that is about $400 million slimmer than the spending plan recommended by Gov. Sonny Perdue in January.
The $17.8 billion budget, which passed by a 49-2 vote, includes cuts across state government to account for a lower revenue estimate the governor gave lawmakers last month in response to more than a year of declining state tax collections. (read more at Atlanta Business Chronicle)
