At Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's most recent board meeting Wednesday, approval was given for the purchase of a new surgical system. The da Vinci Surgical System is a robotics platform designed to enable surgery using a minimally invasive approach. The computerized system is designed to scale, filter and translate a surgeon's actions into more precise movements with the doctor operating the machinery away from the patient.
