The USG and Albany State University (ASU) President Marion Fedrick are committed to a culture of ethics, responsibility, and accountability. The purpose of the week is to remind employees of shared ethical values and expectations and commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical behavior.

During the University System of Georgia (USG) Ethics Awareness Week, Albany State University (ASU) selected a faculty and staff member to receive the 2023 Shining RAM Award. The Shining RAM Award is given to a faculty and staff member who exemplifies excellence, integrity, respect, and accountability in everyday practices and demonstrates innovation, creativity, and courage in working to improve areas within the University.

The Faculty Shining RAM Award was awarded to Dr. Anta’Sha Jones, an assistant professor of biological sciences. She was nominated for demonstrating innovation, creativity, courage, and commitment in her work with students at ASU.

In her five years at the university, Dr. Jones has shown passion for imparting knowledge to ASU’s scholars and goes above and beyond the call of duty for all her students. Dr. Jones provides valuable experiences and opportunities for her students by working on various grants that will benefit them once they leave her classroom and prepare them for the workforce and continuing their education. She has participated and encouraged ASU students to broaden their knowledge globally through study abroad programs, where she has traveled to Jamaica, Europe, and the United Kingdom, educating ASU’s students on different cultures and various scientific methods used in other countries.

The Staff Shining RAM Award was awarded to Mr. Reginald Christian, campus photographer in the Office of Marketing and Communications. He was nominated for his unwavering commitment, selflessness, and unconditional love for ASU, his alma mater.

Christian has been a dedicated employee of ASU for almost 30 years. He has diligently served under five presidents and has been commonly referred to as the “Mayor of Albany State” for the many hats he wears. Besides being the campus photographer, he has been a driver for presidents, campus guests, and student and athletic events. He works tirelessly during evening and weekend activities both on and off campus to capture lasting memories for the institution.
