Staff Report

Tuesday, March 8th, 2022

Yesterdy marked the first day that candidates could qualify in Dougherty County for the 2022 elections. The first elected official to qualify for re-election in Dougherty County was Dougherty County Commission Chairman, Christopher S. Cohilas. When asked about his decision to seek a third- term in office after leading the community through four (4) presidentially declared natural disasters and COVID-19, the Chairman offered the following:

I have been overwhelmed by the tremendous amount of support that I have received from across the entire community and the consistent requests that I seek re-election. Though Dougherty County has faced dark times, better days are ahead, and I look forward to serving a third term in office as we continue to build Dougherty County back bigger, better, and stronger.

After qualifying this morning, Chairman Cohilas then presided over the regularly scheduled County Commission Meeting. See picture of Chairman Cohilas presiding over the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners’ March 7, 2022 Meeting.
