SB&T/Synovus Supports Grow Albany

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Monday, February 20th, 2017

On the third Friday of February each year, Georgia celebrates Arbor Day.  SB&T/Synovus supports this year’s celebration by joining the Grow Albany initiative as a corporate leader. Their financial contribution will be used for replanting efforts across the entire Albany community. Through the work of volunteers and partnerships with SB&T/Synovus, Phoebe, Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful, Dougherty County and the City of Albany, Grow Albany will plant and distribute trees to our public parks, businesses and homes through a multi-year, multi-phase initiative.

“The loss of trees is evident as you drive around Hilsman Park and throughout our town. The Grow Albany initiative is a natural fit for SB&T/Synovus. Just as we plant economic seeds and nourish economic growth by serving our customers’ financial needs, we will now plant actual trees that will thrive for future generations. A community is only as strong as its roots and as a corporate leader it is our responsibility to nurture these roots,” said Pam Simmons, President of SB&T.

SB&T/Synovus has been a constant community leader for decades. There are so many areas that need attention in our community, and because of this partnership we will be able to begin to replant the public areas and many residential areas sooner. The sponsorship dollars will also allow groups of volunteers to be more involved in the planting process. We are excited to continue to rebuild our community and see neighbors grow stronger through Grow Albany,” said Judy Bowles, Executive Director of Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful.
