Albany Area Chamber of Commerce to Visit Georgia Capitol

A group of delegates representing the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and the community will meet with state leaders in Atlanta Tuesday and Wednesday as part of Albany-Dougherty Day at the Georgia Capitol, an annual opportunity to shine the spotlight on the Albany Area and for the chamber to advance its 2017 legislative agenda.

The 20-member delegation, comprised of members of the Chamber’s executive board, Legisative Affairs Committee, sponsorship partners, local officials and community allies, will attend a private networking session Tuesday evening. The group will host meetings with top state leadership throughout Wednesday to discuss priorities including economic development, health care, tourism and work force development. The Chamber legislative agenda identifies capital projects of importance to Albany and Southwest Georgia as well as policy initiatives that strengthen the local, regional and state business climates.

“Each year, the Chamber and its partners take the opportunity to represent our community at the Capitol and to strengthen our relationship with state leaders,” said Albany Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “We developed an agenda of needs and priorities for 2017, not only for Albany but for Southwest Georigia. This platform allows us to express those needs in such as way so as to increase support and to share the advancements made by our community and region.”

The Albany-Dougherty legislative delegation, made up of state elected officials, will also participate in the events.
