The School of Business Administration at Georgia Southwestern State University has maintained its business accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 727 business schools in 48 countries and territories that maintain AACSB Accreditation.

“Georgia Southwestern is proud to be one of the smallest schools in the nation to earn and maintain such prestigious accreditation, and that says a great deal about the commitment of the School of Business faculty and staff,” said Liz Wilson, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business Administration.

Already fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Georgia Southwestern initially earned the AASCB accreditation in 2009 and was visited for renewal in 2014. The renewal will last through the 2018-2019 academic year.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”

“The School of Business Administration at Georgia Southwestern not only has to maintain the rigorous standards of excellence set forth by AACSB, but we must also have sustainable programs in place to deliver measurable quality learning outcomes for our students,” said Wilson. “Continuous improvement is the focus of the accreditation, and we never stop analyzing our programs and outcomes to ensure that they represent the highest standards in education.”

In particular, Wilson feels that the accreditation is valuable to the School of Business’s online programs because it shows students that the online programs meet the same strict standards as on-campus programs.
