Albany Tech Foundation Holds Annual “Roast” of Ken Hodges

The Albany Foundation will hold its annual “Roast” event on Friday, March 20, 2015, beginning at 7pm in the Kirkland Conference Center, with a Silent Auction beginning at 6pm in the atrium of the Kirkland Conference Center. This year’s honored guest is Kenneth (Ken) B. Hodges, III, Attorney for Flynn+Peeler+Phillips and former District Attorney for the Dougherty Judicial Circuit.

“Roasters” for this year’s event include: Chris Cohilas, Attorney, Watson Spence and Chair of the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners; Victoria Darrisaw, State Court Judge for Dougherty County; Gregory Edwards, District Attorney for the Dougherty County Judicial Circuit; Jeff “Bodine” Sinyard, Owner, Adams Exterminators and former Chair of the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners; and Joel Wernick, President/CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System.

Ken Hodges, the former three-term District Attorney for the Dougherty County Judicial Circuit, is highly regarded for his expertise and experience in the courtroom, having tried and won hundreds of cases during the course of his nearly 25-year career. Hodges has represented high profile clients in both civil and criminal matters obtaining outstanding results.

Spending the majority of his career as the District Attorney in Albany, Hodges was also the nominee for Attorney General of Georgia in 2010 and won 158 out of 159 counties in a contested primary, earning more votes in the general than any other Democrat that year. He joined the law firm of Flynn+Peeler+Phillips in Atlanta in January of this year, welcoming a return to his hometown roots with a firm that shares his core values, always striving to provide the highest level of expertise with value and total commitment to the clients objectives.

Most recently, Hodges was named a 2014 “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend magazine, a 2014 “Super Lawyer,” a designation earned by less than five percent of lawyers in the nation, and is rated “AV,” the highest rating given by Martindale Hubble, the preeminent legal ranking system in the nation. Widely recognized for his legal and civic accomplishments, a few of his notable achievements include the 2013 State Bar’s Commitment to Equality Award. He is also the former chairman of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia and was named District Attorney of the Year in 2002. He has received the Justice Benham Award for Community Service from the State Bar and the Eagle Award for his work on behalf of victims given by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

Hodges currently serves on the executive committee for the State Bar of Georgia and its Board of Governors. He is Secretary and Board member for the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, and serves on Boards for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the State Botanical Garden in Athens. He is former Trustee for Leadership Georgia and was named a “40 under 40” by Georgia Trend magazine. He resides in Atlanta with his wife, Melissa, and their young children.

All proceeds from the Roast will go to benefit Albany Tech students in need of financial assistance through the Albany Tech Foundation.
