ADEDC Highlights Albany’s Existing Industries in New Video

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, April 15th, 2014

The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, long an advocate for the community’s existing industries, today released a video highlighting Albany-made products that are used throughout the world.

The new video, “Made in Albany,” gives viewers a glimpse into the magic that happens every day inside of Albany’s manufacturing plants. In a motivating and visually compelling way, the video captures a product’s journey from raw goods, through the manufacturing process, into distribution and finally into the hands of the consumer. It also conveys the pride and honor that employees take in their work.

“Albany is so fortunate to have the caliber of existing industries and global brand representation that it does,” said Barbara Rivera Holmes, director of marketing and existing industries for the Albany-Dougherty EDC. “We’re a legacy manufacturing community producing everything from combat-ready weapons and equipment to snacks and beers to every-day commercial and consumer goods.

The video was shot entirely with the iPhone 5s, as was the EDC’s “We Are Albany” video, which was released in October 2013 and which earned two international marketing awards.

“Made in Albany” features companies that have called Albany home for years, including MillerCoors, Procter & Gamble, Pfizer Inc., Mars Chocolate North America, Coats & Clark, Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany, Adco and Equinox Chemical Co.

“Our existing industries recognize the benefits of doing business in Albany, and we as a community recognize their value,” said Justin Strickland, interim president of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission. “They employ our citizens, they invest in the community, and they partner to strengthen Albany-Dougherty County. We are so grateful for their commitment to this community.”
