Albany-Dougherty Industry Celebration Week, April 14 to 18, includes daily events highlighting the success of the industries that exist in and support the community.  The highlight of the week is the announcement of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission's annual industry awards.

"The industry awards allow us to promote our existing industries and their accomplishments, and share with others the industrial talent that calls Albany home," said Barbara Rivera Holmes, director marketing and existing industries at the ADEDC.

The ADEDC Industry Awards recognize accomplishments in four categories:

  • Global Commerce
  • Excellence in Innovation
  • Economic Impact
  • Corporate Community Citizenship (Good Life City Award)

Applications for the awards are available now and nominations will close on March 19.  Winners will be announced on April 16 at the Industry Awards Rise n Shine breakfast, which will be held at the Merry Acres Event Center beginning at 7:30 a.m.  Industries may apply in all four categories but may win in only one category and may not win in the same category more than once in a three-year period.

Last year's awards honored existing industries Procter & Gamble for economic impact, MillerCoors for excellence in innovation and Mars Chocolate North America for corporate community citizenship.

In addition to the awards presentation, other Industry Week activities include an existing industry video launch on April 15, a Business After Hours networking event on April 17 and an ADEDC Retention Task Force Industry Tour at the MillerCoors brewery on April 18.
