Staff Report From Albany CEO

Monday, February 24th, 2014

Nominations are open for the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission’s annual Industry Awards, which recognize the successes of the community’s existing industries. The awards application deadline is March 19; winners will be announced April 16.

The ADEDC Industry Awards recognize the accomplishments of existing industries in four categories:

  • Global Commerce
  • Excellence in Innovation
  • Economic Impact
  • Corporate Community Citizenship (Good Life City Award)

“Albany-Dougherty County’s existing industries are the foundation of our diversified economy, from health care to manufacturing to distribution, and they are having successes in many areas,” said Bárbara Rivera Holmes, director of marketing and existing industries. “The industry awards allow us to promote these industries and their accomplishments, and share with others the industrial talent that calls Albany home.”

Nominations/applications are due March 19. Industries may nominate themselves or may be nominated by others. Industries may apply for all four categories, but may win in only one category, and may not win in the same category within a three-year period. The awards will be announced at the Industry Awards Rise n Shine breakfast, at 7:30 a.m. on April 16 at Merry Acres Event Center.

Though the awards banquet is the keystone of industry week, the celebration includes activities on all days:

  • Monday, April 14
    - Proclamations from city of Albany and Dougherty County

  • Tuesday, April 15
    - Existing industry video launch

  • Wednesday, April 16
