On April 17, Brooks Furniture announced Pam McDonald-Garrett is now a co-owner of the company with Robert Brooks, Jr.  McDonald-Garrett was previously president of JLA Global, a multinational analytical and technical agricultural corporation.

“I made this move because it allows me to pursue my passion – design and decorating,” McDonald-Garrett said.

Brooks Furniture was established more than 40 years ago by Robert’s father, Bob Brooks, with a focus on excellent customer service.  Customer service means concentrating on what matters most to customers including exceptional values and style.

Giving Back to Albany
As co-owner McDonald-Garrett says she will be involved in all aspects of the business but design and sales will be her primary focus.  She also worked for 15 years with SB&T of Albany, a Synovus affiliate.  She was a private banker and sales manager.

“As a former banker, community involvement is always at the top of my mind.  I’ve known the Brooks family for years and they’ve always given so much back to Albany,” she said.

McDonald-Garrett is an active member of the Albany Chamber of Commerce, Albany Rotary Club and Junior League of Albany, where she served as president in 2007.  She also serves on the boards of Girl Talk and Lily Pad.

Revitalizing
Brooks Furniture is undergoing a total revitalization of their three-acre showroom.  According to McDonald-Garrett, the company has just completed painting the showroom, which is the largest store in southern Georgia, and is beginning installation of new flooring.  A grand re-opening of the updated showroom is planned for fall 2012.

The company is also expanding its offerings in the higher-end segment of the furniture market.  Lexington and Lane Venture are among the new lines added.

“My direction is to expand custom design sales in addition to maintaining our strong position in the mid to upper market segment,” McDonald-Garrett said.

With 2012 off to a good start, McDonald-Garrett believes there is great potential for growth.  More information on Brooks Furniture is available at www.brooks-furniture.com, call (229) 888-3933 or visit the showroom at 1201 West Broad Avenue in Albany.
